How This Calculator Works
Exponentiation repeats multiplication: 2³ = 2×2×2 = 8. Fractional exponents compute roots: 8^(1/3) = 2. Negative exponents give reciprocals: 2^−1 = 0.5.
Formula
power = base^exponent; root = base^(1/exponent)
Example
2^10 = 1024. The 10th root of 1024 is 2.
Practical Use Cases
- Compound growth
- Geometry (area/volume)
- Scientific notation
